Twitter Co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey launches Twitter alternative ‘Bluesky’
Jack Dorsey is best known as the co-founder of the micro-blogging site Twitter. He was also the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. But Twitter has now been bought by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. He also serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter. But Jack Dorsey is not sitting. According to a report of the New York Post, he launched a new app called ‘Bluesky’ on the Android platform as an alternative to Twitter.
According to BlueSky’s website, this will be the social internet of the future. In the future, users will get more benefits. Besides, content creators will have more freedom on this platform. However, the app is still under development. Can only be used if invited to use.
BlueSky’s website also states, “We are developing a special protocol called the ‘IT’ protocol, which will create a new foundation for social communication or social communication.” Content creators will have freedom to use the platform. There are also special benefits for developers. Users will also get the experience of their choice.
Dorsey started building Bluesky in 2019 with funding from Twitter. It was released on the iOS platform last February.
Technology website Tech Crunch reported that the Bluesky app did not feature Twitter-like bookmarking or like monitoring, tweet editing, tweet quotes, messaging, and Twitter-like hashtag options at launch. But the app has already started gaining popularity. The number of active users of the app has already crossed 20 thousand.
The word BlueSky was chosen from the plan to represent a wide and open world of possibilities. According to the notification, the original name of the project was BlueSky before the plan was taken up. This is now going to be our company name.
BlueSky wants to be a competitor to any company that tries to own fundamental rights to social media or its users’ data.
Like social media giant Twitter, Bluesky was initially founded in 2019 by Twitter executives to help develop decentralized ideas. Jack Dorsey resigned from Twitter’s board of directors in May this year and Twitter vacated the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in November last year.
