Jordi Alba announce to leave Barcelona
Jordi Alba has a contract with Barcelona until 2024. However, this Spanish defender is leaving the Nou Camp at the end of this season. He is leaving the club with the consent of both parties. Alba announced the end of the relationship with his childhood club in a video message today. Barcelona also confirmed the matter in a statement.
Alba is the son of Barcelona. In 1998, he joined Barcelona’s famous football training academy ‘La Masia’. After that, he visited Cornellà , Valencia, Gymnastics and joined Barcelona in 2012 from Valencia.
Alba has won 19 titles for the club in the last decade. He has won 6 La Liga titles, 5 Copa del Rey, 4 Spanish Super Cups, 1 Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Alba first linked up with the Catalan club through Barcelona’s boyhood academy La Masia. After leaving, he returned to his childhood club in 2012. This time, he became one of the main members of the team. That journey is coming to an end at the end of this season.
This left back, one of the best of the generation, played 458 matches in Barcelona jersey and scored 27 goals as well as scored 99 goals. His number of matches will increase if he takes the field in the remaining two matches of the league.
When the 34-year-old defender leaves the club, only two players from Barcelona’s last Champions League-winning side will remain in the squad. They are – German goalkeeper Marc ter Andre Stegan and Spanish midfielder Sergio Roberto.
In announcing the end of the 11-year Barcelona chapter, Alba said, ‘I announce that my Barcelona career ends at the end of this season. This is my last season for Barca. The decision was not easy. But Barcelona will always be in my heart.’
The Barcelona authorities have expressed their gratitude for Alba’s show of love and solidarity with the team during this wonderful trip. At the same time, the Catalan club wished the left back well for his future.
